Important Information
- These conditions apply to Verified by Visa and the use of your card through Verified by Visa.
- You should read these conditions carefully before accepting them and registering for Verified by Visa. If you have any queries in relation to these conditions or Verified by Visa, you should call us on 13 11 55.
- We recommend that you should print or save a copy of these conditions for future reference. You can also view a copy of these conditions at Suncorp.com.au.
- Your password is important and must be kept secret. You may be liable for unauthorised transactions. If your password has become known to another person or your are concerned that it may have, you should contact us immediately on 13 11 55.
- Words in these conditions in bold have a particular meaning which is set out at the end of these conditions in clause 16.
1. conditions
These conditions only apply to Verified by Visa, the use of your card through Verified by Visa and Verified by Visa transactions. All other terms and conditions that apply to your card and any account still apply. If there are differences between these conditions and any other terms and conditions, these conditions apply to the extent of the differences. A copy of your other terms and conditions can be obtained by calling Suncorp on 13 11 55.
2. Accepting these conditions
You accept and agree to be bound by these conditions by clicking on "accept" at the bottom of this screen or when you perform or try to perform a transaction, which ever first occurs.
3. Registering for Verified by Visa
In order to register for
Verified by Visa you must have a
card. You will need to:
- enter a valid card number;
- accept these conditions by clicking on "accept" at the bottom of this screen;
- enter the cardholder name;
- enter the card expiry date;
- enter the last three digits printed on the signature strip on the reverse of the card;
- enter such other information as is requested, that you choose to enter or which is required to be entered;
- enter a personal assurance message; and
- enter a password.
We may refuse to accept any registration for
Verified by Visa. You can cancel your registration for
Verified by Visa at any time by calling
Suncorp on 13 11 55. If you cancel your registration, you will not be able to undertake transactions with
participating online stores.
4. Your personal assurance message
You will need to select a personal assurance message up to 30 letters and/or numbers. You will need to remember your personal assurance message. When you are undertaking a transaction with a participating online store and you are referred to Verified by Visa, your personal assurance message will be displayed so you can be certain you are using the authentic Verified by Visa service.
5. Your password
You will need to enter a password which must be between 4 and 8 letters and/or numbers. It should not be:
- a numeric code that represents your date of birth;
- your driver's license number;
- a series of consecutive or the same numbers;
- an alphabetical code that is a recognisable part of your name.
We may require you to select a new
password at any time. You will need to remember your
password and enter it whenever you are using
Verified by Visa. You should only enter your
password, after you have viewed your
personal assurance message to ensure you are using the authentic
Verified by Visa service. You should not provide your
password to any person and you will not be asked by
Suncorp, any one associated with
Verified by Visa or any
online store to provide your
password. Your
password is a secret code under the other terms and
conditions that apply to your
card. You should refer to your other terms and
conditions for more details in relation to secret codes. A copy of your
other terms and conditions can be obtained by calling
Suncorp on 13 11 55.
6. EFT code and EFT transactions
Where the EFT code applies to the use of your card through Verified by Visa, Suncorp agrees to follow the rules of the EFT code and we give you a warranty that we will do so. In this respect, transactions undertaken using Verified by Visa may be EFT transactions under the other terms and conditions that apply to your card. You should refer to your other terms and conditions for more details in relation to EFT transactions and provisions relating to the EFT code, including your liability arising from unauthorised EFT transactions. A copy of your other terms and conditions can be obtained by calling Suncorp on 13 11 55.
7. Using Verified by Visa
You will need to have access to a computer with suitable software to use Verified by Visa. By accepting these conditions you certify that you will only attempt to use Verified by Visa using a computer with suitable software. We are not liable for any loss, damage or consequential loss or damage if you use or attempt to use Verified by Visa without using suitable software. We are not responsible for delays, errors, inaccuracies or omissions due to failure in a computer system, any telephone system, any other electronic system or ancillary equipment or any other circumstances beyond our control.
8. Electronic communication
In accepting these conditions you agree that we can provide you with any information required to be given to you by law or any code by electronic communication, unless any law or code requires otherwise.
9. Problems with Verified by Visa
If you think there has been a mistake or a transaction using Verified by Visa that you did not authorise, you must phone us immediately on 13 11 55.
10. Fees
There are currently no separate fees applying to the use of Verified by Visa. However, we may introduce fees in future. If we do so, we will give you any notice required under any law or code.
11. Changes to these conditions
We can change these conditions at any time and will notify you of these changes where we are required to do so under any law or code.
12. Availability of Verified by Visa
At any time and without providing any reason, Suncorp can discontinue, suspend, terminate or restrict the availability of Verified by Visa for all registered cardholders or any one or more registered cardholders, either permanently or temporarily, or change any aspect or function of Verified by Visa. If this occurs, you may not be able to undertake transactions with participating online stores.
13. Participating online stores
You will need to use Verified by Visa whenever you are using your card to undertake a transaction with a participating online store. When you are using Verified by Visa to undertake a transaction with a participating online store, your personal assurance message will be displayed so you can be certain you are dealing with a participating online store and that you are being referred to the authentic Verified by Visa service. Participating online stores are not endorsed or recommended in any way by Suncorp. You need to decide in each case whether to proceed with a transaction with any online store. Your card can still be used to undertake transactions with online stores who do not participate in the Verified by Visa service. However, you should refer to the other terms and conditions for details of any terms and conditions applying to such transactions. A copy of your other terms and conditions can be obtained by calling Suncorp on 13 11 55.
14. Change of card details
If for any reason you are issued with a new card (for example if your card is lost or stolen), your registration for Verified by Visa will be continued for your new card and these conditions will continue to apply to your use of Verified by Visa in relation to your new card. If you do not want your new card to be registered for Verified by Visa you will need to call Suncorp on 13 11 55 to cancel your registration for Verified by Visa. If you cancel your registration, you will not be able to undertake transactions with participating online stores.
15. Links to other sites
Suncorp is not responsible for any other sites you may access via links provided on this site. Any links provided to other sites are for convenience only. Those sites may not be current or maintained. Suncorp will not be responsible for any losses, damages, costs or expenses incurred by you in accessing or attempting to access such other sites or relying on the information maintained on those sites.
16. Definitions
(a) In these conditions a reference to:
- (1) the singular includes the plural and vice versa;
- (2) a reference to "we", "us" or "our" means Suncorp; and
- (3) a reference to "you" or "your" means the cardholder of the card.
(b) In these conditions words in italics have the following meanings:
- "account" means a Suncorp account which has a card attached to it;
- "card" means a Visa card issued by Suncorp, being a Visa Debit card, Suncorp Clear Options Visa card or Visa Extra card;
- "cardholder" means the cardholder of the card;
- "conditions" means these terms and conditions that apply to Verified by Visa, as may be amended by Suncorp from time to time;
- "EFT code" means the Electronic Funds Transfer Code of Conduct;
- "online stores" means merchants or stores offering goods or services over the Internet;
- "participating online stores" means online stores who participate in Verified by Visa;
- "password" means the password you choose as part of the registration process for Verified by Visa or any replacement password chosen by you from time to time;
- "personal assurance message" means the personal assurance message you choose as part of the registration process for Verified by Visa or any replacement personal assurance message chosen by you from time to time;
- "other terms and conditions" means:
- (a) Terms and conditions for Suncorp accounts for Visa Debit cards;
- (b) Suncorp Clear Options Credit card and Rewards Program Terms and conditions for Suncorp Clear Options Visa cards; and
- (c) Terms and conditions for Visa Extra and Terms and conditions for Suncorp accounts for Visa Extra cards;
- "suitable software" means software currently supported by VISA International for the use of the Verified by Visa service. This currently includes:
- (a) Operating System Environments of Microsoft Windows 98, ME, NT4.0, XP, 2000 Pro and Apple Macintosh OS 9.1, OS 9.2.2 and OS X;
- (b) Microsoft Windows Internet Browser Environments of Internet Explorer 5.x and above, Netscape 6.2 and above and AOL 7 and 8; and.
- (c) Macintosh Internet Browser Environments of Internet Explorer 5.1.6 and 5.2.2 and Netscape 6.1, 6.2.3, and 7.0, and IE 5.1.6 and 5.2.2;

- "Suncorp" means Suncorp-Metway Ltd ABN 66 010 831 722 and its successors and assigns;
- "transaction" means any transaction you perform or carry out using Verified by Visa;
- "Verified by Visa" means the Verified by Visa service made available to you by Suncorp allowing you to increase the security of online Visa transactions with participating online stores.
