Annual Harley Davidson ride to raise funds for cancer research
More than 100 Harley Davidson riders will converge on Toowoomba next month for the annual "Cruise for Cancer" ride in an effort to raise more than $15,000 for the Queensland Cancer Fund.
Sponsored by Suncorp, the riders and their paying pillion passengers will cover a scenic 250 kilometres, travelling from Toowoomba through Withcott, Gatton, Wivenhoe Dam, and Esk, back through Gatton and up the range to Toowoomba.
Organiser of the event, and Assistant Director of the Darling Downs Harley Owners Group, Paul McDonald said around 120 riders would participate in this year's event.
"Passengers pay $100 for the day, which takes around six hours all up. For that they get a scenic ride through the Darling Downs region, morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea, as well as a photo to take home with them," he said.
"It is an enjoyable day for all of the riders, passengers and the volunteers, with all of the passenger's fares and donations from local businesses and the community on the day going to a very worthy cause."
Suncorp's Regional Manager for Southern Queensland, Geoff Magoffin said Suncorp was proud to sponsor the event again this year.
"Thousands of Queensland families are touched by some form of cancer each year. This sponsorship is just one part of our ongoing commitment at Suncorp to help in the fight against cancer."
The event will be held on Sunday August 28. For more information, or to purchase a ticket, contact the Queensland Cancer Fund on 07 4638 4799.
