Suncorp announces new Head of General Insurance
Suncorp Managing Director John Mulcahy today announced that John Trowbridge, Group Executive General Insurance, had decided to retire and that Diana Eilert would be joining Suncorp to take up the role.
Mr Mulcahy said: "John joined Suncorp from a long and distinguished career in insurance consulting. John's task in completing the GIO integration, delivering the synergies and positioning Suncorp's General Insurance for future growth and profitability has been achieved. In addition to the completion of the GIO integration, he has built a strong team of general insurance executives to take the business forward under Diana Eilert's leadership. He has also contributed to the industry through his involvement in the restructuring of liability insurance."
"I would like to thank John Trowbridge for his contribution to Suncorp and wish him a well earned retirement," he said.
Ms Eilert has extensive experience in general insurance and financial services. Diana commenced her career with NRMA Insurance, where she held various roles including head of the insurance call centre. She left to lead AAMI's sales and marketing efforts in NSW for nearly 2 years, followed by 10 years with Citibank in senior executive roles in marketing, sales, credit and operations. She joined Zurich to head up the Personal General Insurance business and Zurich direct, where she led significant change initiatives to reduce costs and increase revenues. For the past 5 years, Diana has consulted to banking and insurance clients, with an emphasis on customer strategy and growth initiatives. In 2002, Diana left AT Kearney and joined IBM's Business Innovation Services to head insurance and wealth management. She is currently a Partner with IBM's Business Consulting Services.
She holds a Bachelor of Science in Pure Maths (University of Sydney) and a Master of Commerce in Marketing and Finance from the University of NSW.
"The appointment of Diana Eilert, with her strong strategic, growth and customer management skills, will allow Suncorp to leverage the solid foundation provided by the integration of Suncorp and GIO and take the General Insurance business to the next level of performance," said Mr Mulcahy.
Ms Eilert will take up her duties on 3 November, 2003.
