Last chance to sign Ultimate Gift to players

With just 72 hours to go before the Rugby World Cup 2003 semi finals kick off in Sydney, fans are being called on to sign the GIO Wall of Support and join hundreds of thousands of other well wishers in their bid to create the ultimate gift to the players.

The GIO Wall, which now spans the length of more than four rugby fields with fans' messages, will be located at Telstra Stadium on Saturday 22 November. Supporters around the country can also email their messages to wallofsupport@gio.com.au.

GIO principal marketing adviser, Max Goonan said the GIO Wall of Support had proven one of the big hits of the tournament with the Prime Minister being the first to pen his signature on the Wall on October 10.

He has since been followed by many other stars and celebrities including Jimmy Barnes, Michael Klim, Bert Newton, Geoff Heugill, Catriona Rowntree, and Alan Jones, as well as many of the RWC 2003 players, including semi-finalists, the Wallabies.

"Fans have enthusiastically risen to the challenge to help us create a fantastic gift of support for the players by signing the Wall and the response has been overwhelming," Mr Goonan said.

"But with the semi finals just days away, now is the critical time for fans to get behind their favourite teams and players. We call on everyone to find a panel of the GIO Wall and start penning messages and best wishes. This could be your last chance" he said.

The GIO Wall of Support will be on display at Telstra Stadium for the finals on Saturday 22nd November.
